Abstract
The Japanese tea ceremony (Sadō) is one of the cultural traditions rich in philosophical and moral values. This study aims to examine the philosophical meanings within Sadō and how these values reflect harmony in the lives of Japanese society. The method used is a literature study of research and scholarly journals related to Sadō and Japanese culture. The results indicate that the principles of wa (harmony), kei (respect), sei (purity), and jaku (tranquility) form the foundation of social and spiritual ethics in the daily lives of the Japanese people. These values are not only evident in the practice of the tea ceremony but are also reflected in lifestyle, interpersonal relationships, and social structures within Japanese society. Thus, Sadō functions as a medium for character building and the continuous cultivation of harmonious living.
