The kimono is a traditional Japanese garment rich in aesthetic, philosophical, and historical values. In the context of increasingly massive globalization, the kimono faces challenges in the form of modernization, commercialization, and changing consumption patterns. This article examines how the kimono maintains its aesthetic identity and cultural values ​​amidst global change. Through historical studies, visual culture analysis, and the influence of the global fashion industry, this research reveals kimono preservation strategies that include cultural education, design innovation, strengthening local identity, and ethical use of culture in the international sphere. This in-depth discussion aims to provide. Kimono is a traditional Japanese garment that functions not only as clothing but also as a representation of aesthetic values, philosophy, and cultural identity. Amid the rapid development of modern fashion and the intensification of globalization, the existence of kimono faces various challenges, including modernization, cultural commercialization, and shifts in consumer behavior. This study aims to analyze how kimono maintains its aesthetic identity and cultural values within the context of modern fashion.

The research employs a qualitative approach through literature review, historical analysis, and visual culture analysis of kimono’s development in the global era. The findings reveal that the preservation of kimono is achieved through cultural education, design innovation rooted in tradition, strengthening local identity, and the application of ethical cultural practices in the global fashion industry. These strategies enable kimono to adapt to contemporary trends without losing its symbolic meaning and aesthetic value. This study is expected to contribute to cultural and fashion studies, particularly in preserving traditional attire in the modern era.
