Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore the growing interest among Indonesian workers in pursuing employment opportunities in Japan, with a particular focus on the driving factors and the socio-economic impacts both for the workers themselves and their communities back home. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, the research utilizes data obtained from secondary sources such as reports, academic literature, and informal interviews with individuals who have undergone Japanese language and technical training programs. Key findings indicate that higher wages, structured training programs, and the appeal of Japanese culture serve as major motivating factors. Additionally, Japan’s aging population and labor shortages in sectors such as manufacturing, caregiving, and agriculture create favorable opportunities for foreign workers. Socio-economic impacts include increased remittances, enhanced individual skills, and improved living standards for families in Indonesia. However, challenges such as language barriers, cultural adaptation, and work-related stress also emerge. The research emphasizes the importance of policy support, pre-departure training, and post-arrival assistance to ensure a sustainable and mutually beneficial labor migration model.
