This study discusses the comparison between Japanese and Indonesian work ethics in the professional world by highlighting differences in cultural characteristics, organizational systems, and the application of the 5S method in the work environment. The Japanese work ethic is characterized by high discipline, hard work, loyalty, and a strict and well-planned organizational structure, which is reinforced by cultural values such as ganbaru, makoto, and the teachings of Bushido. Meanwhile, the Indonesian work ethic is influenced by the values of mutual cooperation, flexibility, and a sense of togetherness, but still faces challenges such as low time discipline and consistency in work. The application of Japanese work culture, including the 5S methods of Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke, has been proven to improve the discipline, efficiency, and work quality of Indonesian employees, especially in modern industry-oriented companies. This study shows that the integration of Japanese work values into Indonesian work culture can have a positive impact if applied contextually and while maintaining local wisdom.
